Jake's First Movie!
My mom, Ralph and I took Jake to the movies to see Shrek the Third on Saturday. We weren't really sure if he was old enough to be able to sit still through the whole movie, but we thought we might as well try. We were pleasantly surprised by Jake's good behavior! He was kept busy by two binkies, his sippy cup full of apple juice, and some biter biscuits. He enjoyed a few changes from lap to lap to lap - grandma to mama, back to grandma, back to mama, over to dada, back to mama, then back to grandma again. Jake was pretty much mesmerized by the action on the screen, but he did at one point try to get the attention of the guy in front of us. He also yelled at the screen a few times, but no more than any other kid at the theater. We had a great time, and were so proud of our good little boy!

KellyVasami.com Goes LIVE!
Okay, I try not to pimp out my kid too much, but you'll have to excuse me this one time. I am so very proud to announce that, after MONTHS of hard work and COUNTLESS late nights, my photography website is finally complete! Please visit kellyvasami.com to see my photography portfolio. Those who are frequent visitors to my blogs will recognize many of my former blog favorites, but there are a few never-before-seen tidbits too.

I have to mention that if it weren't for my awesome friends and family allowing their kids to be my guinea pigs, and for my cousin Jess being brave enough to ask me to shoot her wedding a year ago, this site and this new career would have never taken off for me. My most sincere and humble thanks.

New Pics!
So we've had complaints from coast to coast (okay, Ralph on the East Coast, and Chrissy in L.A.) that I haven't been updating or adding any pictures of Jake lately, so I'll give you the following tasty morsels. :) Jake and I were playing in the sunroom at my in-laws house this morning and I shot these with the new camera. (LOVE the new camera! It's a Canon 30D for those interested)

P.S. - The adorable pajamas are courtesy of my dear friend Jen Baker and her daughter Emily. They were a birthday present, and I have yet to send a thank you note to Jen or anyone else who was kind enough to give Jake a birthday gift. This is a public apology for my lack of thank-you note writing. I assure you, it's on the to-do list!!!

Moved In... sorta...
Just wanted to give everyone an update...
All of our stuff was packed up this past monday, and delivered to New York on tuesday. It went pretty well, except for my beloved couch that belonged to Grandma Valentine doesn't fit up the stairs. :( So it is in the downstairs living room. The house in Delaware is days away from going on the market. If you know anyone looking to buy a nice 2 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse in Newark, send them our way! :)
Work continues to be very busy. I'm glad to finally be back up and running the businesses. We got the internet installed today, and Verizon did a nice job (FiOS - very fast), but the installer guy managed to erase all of my bookmarks - argh. I get nervous when any tech guy comes up to a Mac. All Mac people do. Macs don't need 'tech guys.' And tech guys aren't used to working on Macs. They say things like "Well, that's a pretty fancy computer" which roughly translates to "Okay, how the heck do I run this thing?"
I am shooting a wedding this weekend back in Delaware (my first of the season) and Jake is hanging out with my mom. We are splitting Mother's Day with both Grandmas, which means a lot of driving for me. Just glad I'm not working on Mother's Day like I did last year (shooting my first wedding ever).
Alright, I'm hoping to have some pictures for everybody pretty soon. I have been seperated from both my camera and my kid for most of the week while trying to work my way through all these boxes. Where did all this stuff come from? Over 8,000 pounds of crap was moved from Delaware to New York in the move. Scary!!!

Jake and Ruthie, Sittin in a... Dogbed
These are the first pictures with my NEW camera! I was still just playing with all the new features and bells and whistles (so don't blame me if these are less-than-professional), but I saw a photo-op I couldn't resist. Jake was being very cute with Ruthie, although she was not really digging an intruder in her doggie couch. Jake must have pulled or grabbed some part of her too hard after I shot these, because she yelped and he got his first "time out" (one minute alone in the high chair - he laughs when I say "no" and continues to beat the dog even when told "be gentle!"). At least the pictures are adorable, even if he is not allowed in the dogbed anymore:
